Our Story
A medical volunteer trip exposed to our organization the need for accessible healthcare to farther reaches of Eastern Africa; specifically the Maasai Villages at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. The villages’ distance from health aid options has magnified the impact of treatable injuries and illness on women and children within them due to lack of imperative access and inability to make the journey when their physical abilities do not allow. A shortage of resources and knowledge of these medical impositions, the local care options do not possess what is necessary to properly prevent and treat these implicating childhood medical issues. By investing in women and children from underserved communities, Project Kilimanjaro was created to maintain strong cultural values of indigenous communities while increasing accessibility to healthcare services.
